The first London years 1971-1974
In London, George Hadjimichalis studied in many different schools, and mainly at Saint Martin’s. His interest during this period turned to the European and American versions of post-war realism (pop art, hyper-realism) that flourished in the British capital.
From 1971 to 1974, apart from the studies he undertook at college, he created realistic-type compositions with political implications, and often copied photographs, in keeping with the directions of photorealism. These works have never been shown in public. In any case, the image – in any of its versions – had now become a permanent part of his work.
